| The purpose of The Green Sod Land Trust: An Foidín Glas, Ireland is to protect and conserve land in Ireland and its indigenous inhabitants; animals, plants, soils, rocks, micro organisms, watersheds and the like, for their own sake and for the sake of present and future generations. The Trust works with local communities and encourages them to live in harmony with nature. It also works to advance education by promoting and encouraging public awareness of the importance of conserving land and protecting the environment for the benefit of present and future generations. The Trust encourages, promotes and fosters the initiation of proposals for the conservation, protection and improvement of lands and the environment. The Green Sod Land Trust: An Foidín Glas, works: 1. To conserve land both for it's own sake, for the sake of the more than human communities who live on the land, and for the sustenance, inspiration and source of spiritual nourishment it is to humanity. 2. To protect existing natural processes, and their indigenous animals, plants, soils etc., out of respect for the diversity of life. 3. To renew land where it has been damaged by encouraging natural processes enabling less restricted interactions amongst species. 4. To work with local communities and to encourage them to live in harmony with nature. To promote biodiversity. To encourage biodynamic agriculture. 5. To promote an awareness and understanding of the natural world, our home, that humanity may live in right relationship with all of life. 6. To stimulate public support to protect land from improper use, that land may no longer be seen merely as a commodity but as a source of life. 7. To encourage voluntary participation in the conservation and renewal of land. |
